Rent Review

This is my first post on Rent Review. I'd just like to welcome everyone to the community. As long as you follow the rules on the profile, there won't be any trouble. Have fun and remember to critique as much as possible.
And I know this is annoying, but please try to get some new members to join. If this community works out, me may choose to have some awards to be given out. Start posting!

I think it's fantastic that you're aiming to get rid of some of the clutter that is RENT ff, but I am confused on a few issues. These reviews are unsolicited, correct? As in, you're just randomly picking stories and posting your reviews here? Are you alerting the authors to tell them that their stories are being discussed in a place other than where they posted them originally. I'm sure most would be happy for the recs but in my opinion, I would think that people would like to know when people are talking about their work in a public forum.

Also, I got a lot of flack for this when I created a community called RENT for Bastards which had me and 3 others review work and admit those we felt were strong and interesting. I admit it was more than a bit pretentious and I feel that this community could fall to the same issues. To play devil's advocate for a moment....who are you to say what are the strengths and weaknesses of a story? I think that if this community grew, it would decrease this issue exponentially, showing a more well-rounded discussion of stories that would give a wider range of opinions.

Hope this was constructive. Best of luck!
